CREFR's 7th Annual Spring Symposium: Infrastructure & Real Estate

The CREFR's Seventh Annual Spring Symposium is coming up on April 25th, 2018. "The Infrastructure & Real Estate Nexus: Three Case Studies" is a joint conference between the NYU Stern Center for Real Estate Finance Research and the NYU Stern Infrastructure Finance Initiative.

Infrastructure investment and real estate are closely linked. Infrastructure initiatives are catalysts in the economic development process. They usually trigger important benefits that are reflected in increased productivity and returns on both physical and human capital and accelerating growth.

This conference will delve into the inter-dependence between infrastructure and real estate and will focus on three recent cases of joint infrastructure-real estate dynamics in order to draw out many of the key lessons. The first case study will look at The Second Avenue Subway. The second case will focus on The Dakota Access Pipeline Project followed by a keynote interview featuring Stephen Ross, Chairman of The Related Companies. The third and final case will examine the Panama Canal Widening.

Please email abell@stern.nyu.edu with any questions or information on how to register.

Site tour: 475 Fifth Ave. at Bryant Park

475 Fifth Avenue is a 24‐story, 292,545 square foot, Class A office building located at the corner of 41st Street and 5th Avenue overlooking the New York Public Library and Bryant Park. The property was acquired from Barclays in September 2011 for approximately $144 million.

The 1925 vintage property was acquired as a value‐add opportunity from Barclays, who received the asset as part of their acquisition of Lehman Brothers. At the time of acquisition the property was nearly 90% vacant.

TH Real Estate acquired the asset, embarked on a modest capital improvement plan and
successfully repositioned the asset from a distressed Class B property to a premier Class A boutique office building that is approximately 94% leased to a diverse base of high‐quality tenants representing both traditional FIRE users and modern, creative space focused, TAMI tenants.
